The Thread Between Us
An exhibition weaving stories of empowerment and activism in celebration of the Leichhardt Women’s Community Health Centre’s 50th anniversary.
The exhibition tells the powerful story of the centre from its emergence during Womens Liberation movement in the 1970s, the development of specialist cultural and linguistic support groups over many decades as well as pivotal campaigns around birth control, refuges and crisis centres.
The Thread Between Us highlights the centre’s diverse range of services, commitment to activism and their role in connecting women. Drawing on the centre’s rich archive the exhibition identity uses the metaphor of thread to connect the ongoing strength of this comunity with direct quotes and archival imagery from throughout the centre;s history.
